Chipping Effect

The AK Interactive Chipping Effect is an 18 ml odourless acrylic medium designed to create realistic scratches, chips and worn paint between layers of colour. It is suitable for weathering vehicles, scenery and other scale-model surfaces where the underlying colour should show through.

Reveal realistic chips and scratches
A useful choice for worn armour plates, tank hulls and industrial scenery: reveal a dark primer, rust tone or metallic layer beneath the top colour to suggest years of wear.

Create controlled chipping
Paint the model with the colour you want to reveal beneath the chips, then apply Chipping Effect by brush or airbrush. Once dry, apply the outer acrylic paint layer. Moisten the surface with water and gently work the paint with a brush or suitable tool to expose controlled chips and scratches.
