The Vallejo Squidmar Color Essentials Set brings together 30 carefully selected acrylic paints to create a versatile palette for miniature painting. Developed in collaboration with Squidmar Miniatures, the selection includes vibrant colours, natural tones, deep shadows and metallics that work together to cover a wide variety of painting projects. From fantasy characters and sci-fi miniatures to monsters, vehicles and terrain, this set provides a solid foundation without requiring an enormous paint collection.

A carefully selected palette that works together

Rather than simply offering a large assortment of colours, the Essentials Set focuses on paints that complement one another. The selection encourages mixing, allowing you to create additional shades, smooth transitions and highlights using the colours already available.

With 25 regular acrylics and 5 metallic paints, you can tackle everything from skin and clothing to leather, armour, weapons and mechanical details. The combination of natural tones and more vibrant colours gives you plenty of freedom to experiment with different painting styles.

Explore colour, contrast and blending

The Squidmar Color range was developed with miniature painting techniques in mind. Whether you're building up a miniature with thin layers, blending between colours, adding sharp edge highlights or applying subtle glazes, the paints are designed to work together.

The palette is particularly useful for painters who want to develop their understanding of colour mixing. Instead of reaching for a different bottle for every highlight or shadow, you can explore how colours interact and create your own variations.

Four miniatures to put your paints to work

Alongside the paints, the set includes four HIPS plastic miniatures from Squidmar's Sona universe. These provide an opportunity to try the colours on actual models, experiment with different techniques and discover how the palette performs across different surfaces and details.

Accompanying tutorial content offers guidance for painting the included miniatures, making the set approachable for beginners while still offering plenty of possibilities for experienced painters.
