Sansodor - Odourless Thinner
Winsor & Newton Sansodor is a low-odour solvent for thinning oil and alkyd colours, cleaning brushes and controlling oil-paint techniques. Its slow evaporation rate keeps oil paints workable for longer, making it particularly useful for oil washes, blending, shading, streaking and other techniques where you want time to manipulate or remove paint from a miniature.
More working time for oil techniques
Sansodor evaporates more slowly than traditional white spirit, giving you additional time to blend and adjust oil colours. This is especially useful when applying oil washes to miniatures: excess paint can be carefully removed or moved around while the wash remains workable. It is equally suited to gradual oil blending, filters, streaking and other effects where precise control is important.
Low odour and gentle solvent action
Winsor & Newton developed Sansodor as a low-odour alternative to traditional artist solvents. It has a less aggressive solvent action than Artists' White Spirit while still effectively thinning oil and alkyd colours and cleaning brushes after use. This makes it a versatile choice for miniature painters who regularly work with oils at the hobby desk.
Application
Use Sansodor sparingly to thin oil paints to the desired consistency or dampen a clean brush or cotton bud to blend, soften or remove oil paint from the surface. It can also be used to clean brushes and tools after working with oil-based products.
Important information
Although Sansodor has a very low odour, it is still an artist's solvent and should be used in a well-ventilated area. Avoid prolonged skin contact and keep the container tightly closed when not in use.
